Website Accessibility

The Brampton Library is committed to providing accessible on-line services to our customers. We review our website content regularly and ensure that our standards comply with the standards set-out in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 as per the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act

We present information in high contrast ratios that usually meet and exceed the requirements of WCAG 2.0. Images are always presented with a filled-in meaningful Alt attribute, so that they can be understandable by screen readers. Web pages are laid out using semantic structures such as headings, lists, labels etc., to make them easier to navigate using any accessible tools. Text resizable option is available throughout the website.

Catalogue site

Our Mobile Catalogue Site supports WCAG 2.0 and meets all applicable criteria. However, our desktop catalogue site does not fully comply with the all applicable criteria of WCAG2.0. Our catalogue vendor Polaris Library Systems is working on the accessibility/section 508 compliance for all catalogue sites.

Events Calendar site

Our Events Calendar system does not fully comply with WCAG 2.0. The vendor Evanced Solutions is working to meet the requirements of WCAG2.0 and the next version of their Events Calendar system will support all applicable criteria of the WCAG 2.0 Level 2.
