If you have a computer at home, you may search for books owned by the Brampton Library in the library catalogue.

On the home page (www.bramlib.on.ca) click on "Library Catalogue" under the heading on the right side that says "Internet Resources"

Brampton Library has a number of materials for learning English as a second language:

  • TOEFL, TOEIC and other examination study guides
    To find these books in the library, type the name of the test, e.g., TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS, MELAB etc. in the Quick Search box in the library's catalogue.
  • Dual-language books for children, in English and another language
    To find these books in the library, type "Panjabi bilingual" (for example) in the Quick Search box. If Panjabi is not your language, type in your language and the word "bilingual".
  • CD-ROMs for learning English
    To find these materials in the library, type the words "English interactive multimedia" in the Quick Search box.
  • Videos/DVDs for learning English
    To find these materials in the library, type the words "English teaching video*" in the Quick Search box. (Putting the * after the word video will show you both videos and DVDs)
  • Audio cassettes or CDs with books for learning English
    To find these materials in the library, type the words "English language sound" in the Quick Search box. (In this case you will get more than just English, but you may look at each title to see which one you want). To find materials that will help you with pronunciation, type the word "pronunciation" in the Quick Search box.
  • Books for learning English
    To find these materials in the library type the letters "esl" in the Quick Search box. Here you will find dictionaries and other materials on such topics as: grammar, spelling, vocabulary, punctuation, writing, reading, and listening.
