Brampton Library’s Chinguacousy branch reopened at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 in the Chinguacousy Park Ski Chalet, after closing its previous location on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 in the Brampton Civic Centre, to make way for Toronto Metropolitan University’s new School of Medicine. The Chinguacousy Park Ski Chalet is located at 9050 Bramalea Road, near the south-west corner of Central Park Drive and Bramalea Road.
"We are thrilled to be able to serve the community for the coming period from our new location in Chinguacousy Park. We invite you to come connect with literacy, learning, and your community!" - Todd Kyle, CEO
Why was the Chinguacousy Park Ski Chalet chosen as the new location for Chinguacousy Branch Library?
The Ski Chalet was chosen because of its proximity to the former location. It is located at a 1.5 km walking distance from the current location (about 2 km driving) in the north-east corner of Chinguacousy Park. It is accessible from walking routes within the Park as well as from a parking lot with an entrance on Central Park Dr.
Will the same services be available at the new location?
The new location is a smaller but modern and airy building that will offer most of the same services on a smaller scale. We will continue to offer a selection of books and other materials, computer access, study space, various programs and makerspace services. We are in the process of relocating the audio recording studio to another Brampton Library branch. This new location is not permanent. We are working with the City to find a future permanent site to serve the Chinguacousy community.
