What do I need to borrow a telescope?

A library card in good standing is all you need! Place holds and check out just as you would any other material.

No library card? No problem! Get a library card online.

Where can I borrow a telescope?

Telescopes are available at all branches on a first come, first served basis. If all the telescopes are checked out at your location, you may place a hold through the catalogue or mobile app.

How long can I keep a telescope?

7 days. Renewals are permitted as long as there is no one waiting with a hold.

How do I use the telescope?

Refer to the user manual in your backpack for more detailed instructions, and note that we have partially assembled 2 parts of the telescope for your convenience:

  1. The finderscope has been attached to the telescope optical tube.
  2. The mounting plate has been removed from the tripod and attached to the bottom of the telescope optical tube.

Where can I return this kit?

You can return this kit to any Brampton Library branch during open hours. Telescopes will need to be returned in-person to a staff member at a customer service desk. Do not return telescopes in the dropbox.
